PS - My definition of a day is the hours I spend awake, even if that means my day ends into the next day. Sometimes my shots are taken after midnight, but I still count it for the previous day if I had not gone to bed yet. :)

I've been spending time in my sewing corner as I'm helping a friend complete her first quilt, so I decided to use my new macro for some detail shots of sewing related items. First up...spools of color.

More sewing details...this is a shot of my dear Bernina sewing machine. This thing is fantastic! That button that says M 1/2 allows you to make the machine run at 1/2 speed, which can be very helpful at times. My friend, B, used that button a lot while putting together her quilt pieces. We had some good laughs about her rip-roaring speediness!

Today we have a nearly finished quilt! All that's left is to finish sewing on the binding by hand. This shows the top and the lovely, green, flannel backing. It turned out beautifully!

Two tired boys...after swimming lessons and playing hard on an indoor jungle gym, the personality for pictures just wasn't happening. Oh well...even Jedis get tired, I suppose!

This morning, my hubby installed my fancy schmancy bike bell on my handlebars, as well as oiled up our bike chains and got the bikes ready for more riding this spring/summer. After last Saturday's 83F temps, you'd think we had already arrived at summer. Today's high of 45F with possible snow showers tonight has jerked us back into volatile spring.
EDIT: As of 2 pm, it IS snowing! But it's not cold enough to accumulate. Still...it's pretty crazy!

I got new running shoes today! Yay! I haven't had really nice running shoes in a long time, and I'm so exicted to start putting these to good use. My body needs this, and so does my mind. It's one of the things I feel I can claim about myself...that I am a runner. That part of me has been hidden away for too long. It's time to work it out!

Any guesses to what this is?

It's the underside of a lid to a new cast iron cooking pot/dutch oven we just got. The little pointy tips allow moisture to drip back into the pot. It actually says 10 1/4 to tell what size it is. I'm not sure what the 8 is for. Just having some fun with the macro lens!

This is darker than I was planning for, but it was quite late when I took this. I just liked the simplicity and the rain drops and the color. Tulips are too short-lived, in my opinion.

I made a vegan chili tonight which turned out sooooo yummy. And I used the cast iron pot that I featured in my pic o' the day 3 days ago. Chili just looks right in a cast iron pot, does it not?

I had some fun taking some shots of squirrels today. There were a couple in the yard, but I mainly focused on the one that was rummaging around under the birdfeeder, picking up dropped food. A little later, my husband noticed this one (probably the same one) seemingly ready to sack out on this tree branch. At first it actually looked like it might just close its eyes and fall out, and I was worried that it had made itself ill! Then it turned its head and looked at me, but just continued to stay still. It must have just needed a little break in the shade.
